Begone, annoying woodchucks, begone
I’m determined to rid the property of woodchucks that spring. These furry, basketball sized eating machines know just when to burrow under the garden fence and eat the vegetables. And when they are not eating the tops off the broccoli or picking the beans, they hang out in their tunnels, making pool-ball sized eating machines that grow quickly on a fine diet or organic vegetables and flowers. The town, my wife, and my daughter won’t let me blast the bastards with my shotgun, and whether I put out poison, there’s a chance that the good cat, as well as the poor cat, would eat it, and that would be a mixed blessing. I guess we could get a big mean dog, but that too would be problematic. I’d had mixed luck with the Hav-a-hart trap, mainly considering the chucks get wary of it. I’m going to try some of that bait, but I have doubts as to its efficacy. Aside from the above mentioned methods, have any of you found a foolproof way to get rid of woodchucks/groundhogs permanently? Thanks in advance for all the suggestions.
